  • and suffer a 10% hearing loss you may be entitled to compensation of $16,520

  • If your hearing loss is higher you may be entitled to more compensation

 

If you have stopped work:

  • and have a 10% hearing loss, the compensation sum may be less depending on when you stopped work

  • If you ceased work many years ago, you may be entitled to compensation if your loss is below 10%

How the process works

Step 2 Provide us with a copy of your hearing test results. If you don’t have any results, we can arrange a free testing for you at a Hearing Services Provider close to your home.

Step 3 If we determine that you may be eligible for compensation, we will provide you with a WorkCover claim form to complete and return to Advice Line Lawyers.

Step 4 We will assess the claim form to ensure that it contains all required information in the format required by WorkCover and submit the form on your behalf.

Step 5 You will be requested to undergo an independent medical assessment by and Ear, Nose & Throat specialist appointed by WorkCover.

Step 6 You claim is assessed by WorkCover, and if approved, you will be offered compensation commensurate with the degree of impairment.

Step 7 If you need a hearing aid or aids, we can refer you to a Hearing Services Provider who will provide an appropriate hearing device quotation.

 

What will it cost?

There are no up-front costs. We only charge legal fees, if you are successful in your claim.

Who is eligible for compensation?

A person who has suffered a hearing loss of 10% or more from work related noise exposure is eligible to apply for compensation.

 

How long will the process take?

Although each claim is different, generally, the process from lodging the claim to receiving the compensation, will take approximately 6 months. A minority of complicated cases can take considerably longer.

 

What do I have to do?

In order to claim compensation, you will need to assist completing the claim form; attend an appointment with a WorkCover appointed specialist and maintain communication with our office. We will take care of the rest.

 

Where do I get my free hearing aids from?

Once your claim is approved, we can refer you to an audiologist or audio metrist who will provide a quotation for the hearing aids best suited to your needs and circumstances. We will then lodge a claim for the cost of the aids on your behalf. Once approved, you will be fitted with our hearing aids.

 

How long will approval for a hearing aid take?

Each claim is different; however, generally, this process takes approximately 2 months.

 

Will I need to visit Advice Line Lawyers' office?

In most cases a claim can be handled over the phone, by mail, fax or by email, without the need for you to visit our office.
